PADDLING GROUPS

SBPADDLERS - Based in South Bend, about 60 members. Some emphasis on racing, as well as kayak touring.

MUSKRAT'S DEN (Wildcat Creek Paddlers, Kokomo/Lafeyette) - whitewater and touring, canoes and kayaks. A great bunch to paddle with. Emphasis on central Indiana rivers, especially Wildcat Creek. Hosts of the annual INDIANA PADDLER'S RENDEZVOUS. Fearless Leader Garry "Muskrat" Hill makes a mean bowl of chili!

HOOSIER CANOE AND KAYAK CLUB (Indianapolis) - Indiana's largest paddling club, HCKC sponsers numerous paddles, clinics, an training sessions.


PADDLE MICHIANA (Yahoo Groups) - Canoe and Kayak Forum/Message Board, Trip Announcements and Alerts, Photo Albums, extensive Links Page, and Calendar for keeping track of your paddle dates. Geared for the noncompetitive paddler. "No hurry" paddles on Rivers and Streams in Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. We "Go with the Flow!"

TRAVERSE AREA PADDLE CLUB - based in Traverse City area. Formal club with paddles for all interests and skill levels.

VOUS_CREW Based a bit farther south than TAPC, and much less formal. "The 'Vous Crew is a disorganized band of West Michigan Canoeist(s) that rendezvous at various canoeing rivers in Michigan. This egroup is a forum for coordinating paddling related activities."

WEST MICHIGAN PADDLERS informal group based south of 'VOUS_CREW, with overlapping membership. "This is a meeting place for paddlers in West Michigan to get together and talk about anything paddling related and hook up for paddling trips"

FORT WAYNE PADDLERS - The Fort Wayne Indiana Paddle Club is designed to connect kayak and canoe paddler's in the Fort Wayne area. We are also here to provide an opportunity to learn about local paddling spots and small regional trips.

CANOE, KAYAK, RAFT, AND TUBE RENTALS

DOE-WAH-JACK'S CANOE RENTAL - located on M-51 in Dowagiac MI, this long time outfitter plies what we consider perhaps the best paddling river in southwest Michigan, The Dowagiac.

THE TRADING POST CAMPGROUND AND CANOE RENTAL - Located on the Pigeon River at Mongo IN. The Pigeon is northern Indiana's most popular paddling river. The TRADING POST rents both canoes and kayaks, with a number of trips of varying lengths.

EAST RACE WATERWAY - Rent a raft and do some genuine white water rafting in downtown South Bend. This is also the midwest's premier white water for canoeists and kayakers.

ST JOSEPH (IN) COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION - offering canoes and kayaks on the St. Joe (South Bend to St. Pats and Niles) and Baugo Creek.

GOSHEN PARKS AND RECREATION DEPT - offering paddling on Goshen Millpond and Elkhart River. 48 hour advanced reservation required.

LIQUID THERAPY CANOE AND KAYAK RENTAL - offers trips on 7 different rivers in south central MI (
St. Joseph, Rocky, Prarie, Portage, White Pigeon, Nottawa, and Fawn. Trips vary from 1/2 hour to one week, and include shuttle service.

BRISTOL CANOE AND KAYAK, Bristol IN (574) 848-4465 - Operating on the St. Joseph River upstream from Bristol IN. This stretch of river, from Mottville MI to Bristol IN, is very pleasant and scenic. It is a terrific trip for inexperienced paddlers, or those just seeking a relaxing afternoon on the water.
